Process and Terms for Custom Jewellery
Initial Consultation - whether you have a design in mind or are interested in the process, you are always more than welcome to make an appointment to chat, discuss ideas and we can decide if my designs would be a good fit for your project.
Design Fee - If you decide to move forward with the project I charge a $400 non-refundable design fee for all custom orders, which will be applied toward the final purchase price. This includes one or two rounds of design idea sketches and possibly a wax mock-up. Many of my designs can be hand carved in wax before they are made in gold, which gives you the opportunity to see in three dimension the shape, scale, and texture of your piece before it's finished. Some of my hand fabricated designs are not possible to make in wax first, therefore they will go straight from paper sketch to metal. In this case design specifications will be made in note form on the concept sketch.
Design Approval and Deposit - Once you are completely happy with the wax mock up or design concept sketch, a 60% deposit of the estimated finished price will be due before work in metal begins. This payment will include the $400.00 design fee. With this payment you are approving the design and are giving permission to commence work on the custom piece in the metal of your choice. Please ensure any questions about the design details or specifications are made clear to me and are written on your form at this stage before work commences in metal. Changes could be very difficult or not possible once the piece is finished. There will be additional charges for any modification to the piece that would differ from the originally discussed design.
Your Finished Piece - When your piece is complete you will be notified, and payment must be made in full at time of pick-up or before shipping. Your final payment is due no later than 3 weeks after completion. If for some reason it is not possible to arrange payment within 3 weeks, a 10% fee of the entire piece will then be added to hold your custom piece for up to 3 months. If the final payment is not received after these 3 months the piece will not be held, and the initial 60% deposit would be lost.
Returns - Custom designed pieces are non-returnable.
Repairs - I stand behind my work 100%! Please don't hesitate to contact Emma Glover Design directly for how to proceed with any repairs, questions or concerns. I offer a warranty on the craftsmanship, which covers workmanship defects for one year from the purchase date. This does not include damage from daily wear and tear, accidental damage or the loss of stones. Repairs due to damage can be arranged for a cost.
Resizing - Please provide an accurate ring size prior to production. Pieces will be resized on a case-by-case basis and come with a resizing fee. Pieces such as eternity bands, intricate settings, or pieces featuring certain gemstones in sterling silver may not be able to be resized.
